Why SGP · Repair Specialty

Repair is a different craft than production drywall.

Production drywall is about speed on open framing. Repair happens inside finished, occupied homes — where prep, masking, dust control, and texture matching decide whether the work disappears.

Drywall repair is not a handyman side task.

Repair is where SGP Drywall started branching out from larger production crews — and it’s the work that shaped how we operate. On an open job site you can move fast and clean up later. Inside someone’s home, there’s no one else coming behind us.

So we became a repair-focused, finish-minded crew: protect the floors and furniture, control the dust, cut clean, match the existing texture, and leave the room better than we found it. That mindset is the whole difference — and it’s why repair became a specialty, not a side job.

The best repair is the one you can’t find.

Inside Your Home · Prep & Cleanup

The difference is what we do before and after.

A repair doesn’t happen on an open job site — it happens in a finished, lived-in room. So the work starts before the first cut, and isn’t done until the space is clean.

Cleanup isn’t an extra. It’s part of the repair. We protect what’s already there, control the mess drywall makes, and leave the room ready to use.

We treat your home like there’s no one coming behind us — because there isn’t.

Masking & coverings

Floors, furniture, and finished surfaces covered and taped off before we start.

Dust control

Contained work areas and managed sanding so dust doesn't travel through the house.

Daily clean-up

We clean as we go — no debris left sitting in your living space overnight.

Final walk & haul-off

Materials hauled away and a final walk-through, so the only thing left is the finish.

Our Process · How a Repair Runs

Prep, patch, texture, finish.

The same controlled sequence on every job — built for finished, occupied homes where the result has to disappear.

Prep

Protect the space — mask, cover floors and furniture, and control dust before any cutting starts.

Patch

Cut clean, back it properly, and set the patch with fast-setting compound for a solid, flat repair.

Texture

Match the existing texture — orange peel, knockdown, or smooth — so the patch blends into the wall.

Finish

Prime, paint, and detail — then clean up completely. The repair should be impossible to find.

Signature Skill · Texture

Texture matching is a skill, not a setting.

Anyone can mix mud. Matching an existing texture so a patch disappears takes a trained eye and the right tools — it’s the whole difference between a repair you notice and one you never do.

  • Orange peel & splatter, dialed to the wall
  • Knockdown & skip trowel
  • Hand-troweled smooth, up to Level 5
  • Ceilings and accent walls included
One Company · Reconstruction

When a patch becomes a reconstruction.

Sometimes a small repair opens into something bigger — water behind the wall, damaged insulation, soft framing. Instead of sending you to chase down separate trades, we handle the rebuild end to end.

  • Tear-out and proper drying
  • Insulation replaced where needed
  • Drywall, texture & paint
  • Baseboard and trim put back

Knowledge · FAQ

Questions, by repair type.

Both. We take single patches — a doorknob hole, a nail pop, a crack — through full wall and ceiling reconstruction. Repair is our specialty, so small jobs get the same care as large ones.
That's the goal on every job. We match the existing texture and feather the finish into the surrounding wall so the patch disappears once it's primed and painted. On older or heavily textured walls we'll talk through what a realistic match looks like before we start.
Yes. Before any cutting we mask the area, cover floors and furniture, and control the dust. Inside a finished home there's no one coming behind us, so we leave the room clean.
First we figure out whether the source is still active — a stain usually means water got in somewhere. Once it's dry, we cut out the damaged drywall, replace it, retexture to match, and prime so the stain doesn't bleed back through.
On a reconstruction, yes — we replace insulation that got wet and prime the repair. For a full repaint we'll coordinate or hand off so the finish stays consistent across the room.
Most of the time, yes — orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel, and smooth are the common ones in San Diego homes. We test the match on the patch before committing so it blends with the wall around it.
Yes. We skim-coat and sand for smooth-wall and Level 5 finishes, including bringing a textured wall down to smooth when you want to modernize a room.
It depends on the week and the size of the job, but repairs usually schedule quickly. Text a photo and we'll give you an honest timeline up front.
That's the easiest way to start. Send a photo of the damage with a note on the room, and we'll tell you what it likely takes — no obligation.
