New-build hang, remodels & texture matching in Carlsbad.
New-construction drywall, custom-home finishes, ADU coordination, and careful older-bungalow repair from the Village to La Costa.
Carlsbad work splits clean between two worlds: the older Village bungalows that need careful patch-and-match work, and the newer La Costa and Aviara residences where calls are usually a remodel scope or a recent water event. We crew up for either — small two-person repair teams or a full hang-and-finish crew for new construction.

EXCELLENT Based on 125 reviews Posted on Tammy NodlerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Showed up on time, were very clean and did an amazing job fixing my torn out drywall from a repipe and then gave me a new beautiful finish on my walls. Getting a quote was so easy and the quote was very detailed. I would recommend them to my pickiest friends!Posted on Gary LaughlinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Professional, fast and cleanPosted on Alan GarciaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a Home Depot shed installed and started pricing out insulation, drywall, paint, and baseboards with different contractors. It added up fast and felt like a lot to manage. When we called SGP, they just handled everything. They gave us one clear, turnkey price and took care of the whole process, which made it way easier on us. Everything turned out great, but what we appreciated most was no surprises just a smooth, straightforward job from start to finish.Posted on Wellington Loh JrTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Would definitely use again as did a great job , cleaned up and took care of.Posted on Tom PackardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic work. Excellently done, on time, quick, and friendly.Posted on Angela VreekenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Edgar from SGP drywall did a great job patching up the attic access after we had a new HVAC system installed. He was quick scheduling a time with us and also sent a reminder text the night before which I appreciate. He finished the job quickly and it looks great!Posted on Beaudry Garden DesignTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Edgar did a great job. He arrived on time, got the job done quickly and professionally. I highly recommend him.
What every job includes
Consistent work, regardless of job size.
A small patch in a Carlsbad guest bathroom and a full-home Carlsbad remodel get the same five things — written scope, clean site, matched texture, residential focus, paperwork that adds up. That part doesn't change with the size of the ticket.
Clean work area
Plastic-sheeted transitions, foot traffic minimized, vacuum on-site. Drywall dust stays in the room being worked.
Scope before work starts
Walk the job, agree on what's in and what's out, in writing. Surprises are the contractor's problem to solve, not yours to absorb.
Texture matching
We match what's already on your wall — orange peel, knockdown, splatter, smooth. Hand-troweled where the wall demands it.
Residential focus
Single-family homes, condos, ADUs. We don't bid commercial tenant improvement work, so your project gets full attention.
Owner-builder & landlord
Comfortable working with owner-builders, property managers, and landlords. We invoice clean and document the work.

Local context
Two Carlsbads, one finish standard.
Carlsbad has been one of San Diego County’s most active new-construction markets for two decades. We carry the schedule discipline for production homebuilders and the finish standard for custom builders working in Aviara and La Costa Greens. When the GC needs drywall hung and finished on a five-day window, we crew accordingly.
In Olde Carlsbad and the Village, the work changes character — older bungalows, careful matching, respect for original ceiling textures. Carlsbad ADUs trigger a 10-foot separation rule (or 6-foot wall-to-wall if openings face each other) under the City’s ADU code, which shapes exterior assemblies before drywall starts.

How it works
A clear process from first contact to finished wall.
Four steps. No timing promises we can't keep, no surprise line items, no salesy language. The work that needs to happen, in the order it happens.
Text or call with the basics
A photo, a sentence about what happened, the room it's in. That's enough to scope most jobs and quote the next step.
We review the scope
We walk the job in person for anything beyond a small patch. Free, no obligation, and we explain what we see.
You get a clear price
Written estimate covering labor, materials, and scope. No padded line items, no language designed to confuse.
We complete the work and clean up
Crew arrives on schedule, completes the work to the scope agreed, vacuums the site, and walks you through the finished room.
Why we know this market
The drywall standards that apply to Carlsbad homes.
Code references and local regulatory context that affect the scope of Carlsbad drywall work. Not legal advice — but it shapes how we quote.
CITY OF CARLSBAD
Accessory Dwelling Unit Program
Carlsbad ADU requires 10-foot separation (or 6-foot wall-to-wall with facing openings) between ADU and main residence — affects exterior assembly before drywall starts.
CRC SECTION R302.6
Dwelling/Garage Fire Separation
Often missed on older Olde Carlsbad garage conversions. 5/8" Type X required on the rated face.
ASTM D3273
Mold-Resistant Gypsum Board
We spec mold-resistant board on Carlsbad coastal exterior walls and bath/laundry interior assemblies.
GA-214
Levels of Finish
Custom-home interiors in Aviara and La Costa Greens routinely call for Level 5; production new-build runs Level 4 unless the architect specifies higher.

Answers for Carlsbad homeowners.
Can you match the original ceiling texture in my Olde Carlsbad bungalow without it looking patched?+
Yes. Olde Carlsbad bungalows from the 1940s–60s typically have skip-trowel or sand-finish ceilings that no spray gun reproduces from a can. Per Gypsum Association GA-216, we hand-trowel test patches against the original surface first, adjust the rhythm, then apply once the match is confirmed under daylight from three angles.
Our Aviara house had a roof leak that damaged the ceiling drywall. How much has to be replaced?+
Per IICRC S500 (water-damage restoration standard), drywall typically gets cut 24 inches above the highest visible moisture line, then the cavity dries to 16% moisture content before any new board goes back. If mold is present, IICRC S520 protocols apply before drywall replacement begins.
We are building a detached ADU in La Costa. Does the separation wall need to be fire-rated?+
Carlsbad requires a 10-foot separation between a detached ADU and the main residence, or 6-foot wall-to-wall if windows or doors face each other — with extra fire-safety requirements when closer. Under CRC R302.6 / R302.3 (2025), reduced separation triggers a 1-hour rated assembly on the facing exterior walls. We follow the architect’s spec.
Can you work in our occupied Carlsbad home without filling the whole house with drywall dust?+
Yes. Plastic-sheeted transitions at every door, HEPA vacuum at the work zone, daily clean-up before the crew leaves. Most clients stay in the house through the work. We are not okay with drifting dust onto living areas.
Our Carlsbad new-build GC needs drywall hung and finished in five days. Can you keep that schedule?+
Yes — on a typical 2,500–3,500 sq ft single-family new build, our hang-tape-texture crew runs a five-day window with three working days for finish. We coordinate inspection scheduling so cover does not delay the GC. Larger custom homes need a longer window.
Does my Carlsbad bathroom remodel require something other than greenboard behind the new shower tile?+
Yes. CRC R702.4 requires cement board, fiber-cement, or glass-mat-faced tile backer behind shower tile — not greenboard. We spec the correct backer for every Carlsbad bath remodel; greenboard fails inspection if used as a shower backer.
